About Experience

The Southern Islands full-day tour is a private longtail charter to three islands off the south coast of Koh Samui: Koh Madsum (Pig Island), Koh Taen (Coral Island) and Koh Rap (Deer Island). The boat is yours alone, so the day runs at your pace, with snorkelling stops, quiet beaches and lunch along the way. A slower, calmer way to see the south, away from the busier group boats.

The Southern Islands:

Koh Madsum (Pig Island): a small, picturesque island off the southeastern coast of Koh Samui, home to a friendly population of wild pigs. You can swim in clear water, relax on white sand and meet the pigs that made the island famous. A relaxed, lighthearted stop, and a favourite with families.

Koh Taen (Coral Island): a quiet, undeveloped island known for calm beaches and healthy coral reefs. It is one of the best snorkelling spots around Koh Samui, with a mix of fish, reef and clear shallow water. The island also has plenty of birdlife, including a nesting area rarely seen elsewhere nearby. Your guide will take you to the best spots, or you can stay aboard and enjoy the scenery if you prefer.

Koh Rap (Deer Island): the furthest island from Koh Samui on this trip, a quiet, remote spot known for clear water, soft white sand and a relaxed atmosphere. Often called Deer Island, it is home to a small population of wild deer you might see along the beach or in the trees. The reef is ideal for swimming and light snorkelling, with plenty of scenic spots for photos, and the journey back often lines up with a sunset over the water.

Every trip runs a little differently depending on tides and weather, and the crew will always choose the calmest route and the best snorkelling spots for the day. If there is a particular island you would like more time on, just say so. The aim is simple: a full day exploring the islands at your own pace, with time to swim, relax and enjoy each stop.

Your Itinerary

Time: 10 am - 6pm (Sunset)

  • Check in at the pier and meet your captain and guide
  • Cruise south from Koh Samui towards the beautiful island of Koh Madsum
  • Arrive at Koh Madsum and enjoy the island: meet the pigs, walk to the viewpoint, or swim and relax on the beach
  • Continue to Koh Taen and snorkel around the coral reefs, or relax on the boat if you prefer
  • Stop for a delicious Thai lunch on Koh Taen
  • Set off for Koh Rap and enjoy its clear water, quiet beach and untouched surroundings
  • Cruise back towards Koh Samui, often catching a sunset on the return journey

This is a private longtail experience, so the itinerary can be adapted to suit your pace and preferences. Your captain and guide are there to help shape the day and make it as relaxed or active as you like.

Do we need snorkelling experience to join the tour?
No. Most snorkelling spots on this route have shallow, clear water that’s suitable for beginners. Your guide will help you choose a comfortable area and will always prioritise calm conditions. Confident swimmers can explore deeper areas of the reef.

What should we bring on the full-day tour?
We recommend bringing swimwear, sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat and a small dry bag for personal items. Towels, drinks, fruit, snacks, lunch and snorkelling equipment are all provided.

Can we customise the itinerary?
Yes. One of the benefits of a private longtail is flexibility. If you want more time snorkelling, a longer stop at one island or a slower pace overall, just let the crew know. They’ll adjust the itinerary while keeping sea conditions and safety in mind.

Is the longtail boat safe and comfortable for a full-day trip?
Yes. Our longtail boat has upgraded seating, shade, cushions and safety equipment to ensure comfort throughout the day. The captain and crew are experienced and familiar with local sea conditions, choosing the safest and smoothest route based on the weather.

What happens if the weather changes?
Routes may be adjusted to find the calmest water and best snorkelling conditions. If weather makes the trip unsafe, we will help you reschedule or arrange an alternative. Safety always comes first.
