How much does a Koh Tao tour from Koh Samui cost?

The group speedboat tour costs 2,200 THB per adult and 1,700 THB per child (aged 4 to 10 and under 120 cm), with under-3s free. The small-group boutique tour costs 5,450 THB per adult snorkeller, 2,950 THB per child (aged 4 to 12) and 6,950 THB per diver. A private speedboat charter starts from 45,000 THB per boat.

How long is the boat from Koh Samui to Koh Tao?

Around 90 minutes each way by speedboat, depending on sea conditions.

Is the Koh Nang Yuan entrance fee included?

No. The Koh Nang Yuan entrance fee is 250 THB per adult and 120 THB per child (aged 4 to 10), paid on the day. It applies on the group tour and on private charters that stop at Koh Nang Yuan.

What's the difference between the group, small-group and private tours?

The group speedboat tour takes up to 40 guests and visits both Koh Tao's reefs and Koh Nang Yuan. The boutique tour takes a maximum of 14 guests (up to 12 adults, plus children aged 4 to 12), snorkels or dives at three sites chosen on the day, and includes towels and snorkel tuition. A private charter gives your group its own speedboat, crew and guide, for up to 40 guests.

Can I scuba dive at Koh Tao?

Yes. Diving is available on the small-group boutique tour at 6,950 THB per diver, in place of snorkelling. Please let us know in advance so we can arrange it.

Will we see turtles or whale sharks?

Hawksbill turtles are seen around Koh Tao year-round, and whale sharks pass through in season, usually from March to June. Sightings are never guaranteed.

Where do the tours leave from?

Group and boutique tours leave from Bangrak Pier, and private charters from Bophut. Return hotel transfers are included on all three.

When is the best time for a Koh Tao day trip?

Seas are usually calmest from February to September, with the best chance of whale sharks from March to June. October to December is the rainy season, when some trips are rescheduled. See our Koh Samui weather guide.
